Reflections on the Reggio Emilia Teacher Educator Program

Episode 5: "Reflections on the Reggio Emilia Teacher Educator program" with Kerrie O'Neill and Ruth Wallbridge.

In this podcast Kerrie O’Neill and Ruth Wallbridge reflect on their experience last November in the Teacher Educator program in Reggio Emilia.  This proposal of professional growth for teacher educators was born of a necessity, a desire to recognise the authenticity of  pedagogy of the Reggio Approach. Reggio Children need to defend the dynamic dimension, coherency and evolution of the Reggio Approach and how it is represented around the world. The choice for providing professional growth for teacher educators, that are recognised by Reggio Children is a statement on this issue.

Episode 5 features Kerrie O’Neill & Ruth Wallbridge.

Speaker 0 00:00:09 Okay. Speaker 1 00:00:10 Podcast series for RIA members, hosted by <inaudible> and carry a new committee members and opportunity for rich thinking and dialogue as a context of continuous interaction between you and your colleagues. Hello, welcome everyone. We have two special guests with us on the podcast today who did something quite unique to share with us, and we welcome REI A's current chairperson, Ruth Walbridge together with Carrie, our new committee member of RIA. Welcome to you both. It'll be fantastic for you to tell us a little bit more about yourselves before we get started. Hi, I'm Ruth. I teach in a community based kindergarten in Melbourne. Um, I teach a group of five, four and five year old children who come for a five day full time. Speaker 1 00:01:07 And hi everyone. My name is Carrie O'Neil. I am an early childhood consultant and I've been on the committee for many years. I've had the great privilege of being able to work with the ideas of Reggio Emilia in an Australian context, um, with groups of children and families. So this, this idea of project up to you. I know you've both mentioned it. Um, it's a complex idea. Um, it would be wonderful if you could spend some time, I guess, um, exploring that a little bit further. Well, uh, yes, project Tatiana is the design process that's talked about in Reggio Emilia. So I, um, you know, having, having, um, been to Reggio back many years ago, I remember hearing that word and, and talking with genuine, looking about what it meant. And it's one of those things that was lost in translation back then, because we were told it was the Italian word for projects, but that definition is not quite right, but it was, but you know, it, it was one of those words that we grew up with for years. Um, and, um, and I think more reef in the more recent years, we started to get more of a grip on understanding this, this concept and this word. So it's, it's a process project. The RNA is a process. It's a process of design.
